/r/Monitors Bi-Weekly Purchasing Advice thread (Other purchasing advice threads will be removed)

Hi, I'm not really an expert on monitors so I figured I'd ask here. I apologize if this gets a little ramble-y, I'm not the best at getting all my thoughts down so it might be a little choppy.

I recently bought a PC and am looking for a good monitor (or ideally 2) to go with it. I plan on spending $550-600 for 2 monitors and a vesa mount for both of them. I currently am using a laptop with a 15.6" 1080p 60hz screen and it's not sufficient. I can see the pixels when I look at text, which gets pretty annoying, especially since I work with text often in school. I assume a higher PPI would fix this, so I was looking at 24" 4k monitors, since this screen already has a pretty high PPI. But, I thought about it and maybe it's just because since I'm on a laptop I'm very close to the screen and that's why it seems so pixelated even at a high PPI? Again, I don't know much about this stuff.

However, since I play video games (mostly Valorant), a 144hz monitor would be good. I can't find a sub-$800 144hz 4k monitor though, so for the second monitor I was thinking maybe 1440p 144hz? My graphics card should be more than capable for 1440p for all the games I play, as none of them are particularly demanding.

I'm also open to ultrawide rather than 2 monitors, my dad is letting me use his 32:9 monitor while I figure out my own monitor situation and I really like all the extra space without borders (besides the godawful PPI, it's the old version of the CHG90), though I don't see myself using such a wide aspect ration, not like I can even afford it anyways lol.

Should I make adjustments to my plan? I'm thinking one 24" 60hz monitor and one 144hz 1440p monitor. Also if you know any good options for either, please suggest!
