why are americans so scared of spiders?

Australian with arachnophobia here. It’s no so much about them being venomous and being able to kill me. I mean, that plays a part of it but at the same time, while I’m cautious with snakes because of that reason, they don’t give me the same fear as spiders do. Even daddy long leg spiders which I KNOW logically are harmless make me scream and itch all over. Knowing that spiders are harmless doesn’t help arachnophobia because phobias are usually irrational in nature. I’ve seen like 5 comments on this site like this about why are people so scared spiders, they are harmless, like it somehow is supposed to stop arachnophobia and people being scared of spiders.
