Are you left or right wing?

It depends heavily on the country. On the up-and-up, I try to be a centrist and a moderate. I really hate it when society makes choices based on ideological leanings and left/right standing, rather than rationally discuss in a pragmatic manner, and either compromising between the left or right, or when necessary, choosing one side out of merit.

In Canada, I'm a current member of the Liberal Party, although in the past, I've been a member of the Pirate Party of Canada, the NDP, and the Libertarian Party of Canada. I change pretty often based on where society is headed.

In South Africa, I'm a member of the Democratic Alliance, the opposition Liberal party. I've been called a racist as a result, maybe 5 or 6 times, even though the party line is that it's opposed to Apartheid and I never quite supported Apartheid. There's a lot of older folks who lived through apartheid, that genuinely don't believe that they're racist in the party, enough so that they force us to sign a pledge stating that we're not in support of apartheid. At the same time, I can't really associate with the African National Congress as it stands, given the corruption and hate that prevails in that party.

In the United Kingdom, I'm a current member of the Labour Party, although I'm far from a communist. However, given recent events, seriously inclined to switch to the Liberal Democrats even though their nation-wide reputation is awful at the moment.
