Are more people living in ignorance about their financial situation these days?

I understand the benifts of a credit card, but personally I wouldn't trust myself. I just don't want putting it on the cc to be my first option in a situation where I need cash but don't have it, if I need to sell shit I will. If i need to get a second job i will. I have no leases, monthly subscriptions or contracts (just a mortgage). If I need to not go on holiday or eat out I will. I have been living frugally on a tight budget for a year to ensure I have a safety net if things go to shit, in a year i will be able to start enjoying life a bit more (15 a week extra on my weekly budget and extra 20 in my monthly holiday fund would be actually perfect).
