I got chosen to be part of a Derren Brown act at my local theatre a month or so ago. Utterly bizzaro how it happened but I won't go into details in case people want to go see the theatre show.

I've been a big fan of his since I was about 14, read his books and watched his shows. I also have always appreciated having another chill queer role model because there aren't that many of them. Some of his memory techniques helped me get through university despite horrific ADHD so I've always veen thankful. Anyway.

Considering I got to be in a relatively big chunk of the show and spent some time backstage, I had a decent chance to chat to him, and he was really nice. Super chill, even when things didn't go quite as planned (my fault, I was a bit crap haha), friendly and relaxed. Obviously mostly I was interacting with him in the context of the show, but some very dodgy stuff happened and I felt totally safe and had a blast. He is truly good at what he does and I respect him even more after meeting him.
