A Fix For Qualifying:

As we all know Formula 1 has tried to spice up qualifying this year by looking into reverse grids. However this is quite an extreme way to mix up the grid. For a lot of the tracks and the way the current cars have been designed this would significantly impact the title contenders.

I have a new, better, less penalising way to spice up qualifying, I have no way of getting any one at F1 to look into this however other than this post, so here goes:

What we could do is have a single hour session (roughly) for qualifying. But have the cars go out and set a single lap in a specific time slot, per championship order:
- We would have a single car setting their fastest lap on track at once.
- We have the faster cars setting their times when the track is at it's slowest, and the slowest cars when at it's fastest, therefore would close up the difference in lap time a little.
- You add in far more chance for human error, as there would be far more pressure on the drivers not getting a second chance. So therefore you would never see a single driver on top, as they would all make a mistake at some point.
- This would give each team equal time on track for advertising.
- This would stop teams being penalised when another car causes a yellow flag.
- This would also stop the car park before starting a lap/ the controversy of getting a toe.

Could be that as one driver finishes their flying lap and goes on to their cool down lap, the next driver starts their warm up lap to save on a little time overall. So each driver would be on track alone mostly just for their hot lap.

I could see this being a great way to mix up the cars a little, by like 5 places each way, giving a little more uncertainty to qualifying and the race result. But at the same time not significantly penalising one team more than another, because they built a car to run at the front of the pack in cooler air.

What do we all think?
