Avoid Central Station if you are in recovery for alcohol abuse.

Yeah this is what I thought too, but it comes from a standpoint that every single person is capable of strong free will.

When the reality is, if anyone is able to say that, they are lucky to have a brain that is capable of enforcing boundaries or they don't know what its like to have an easily addicted brain.

For example we could attempt a medical experiment where I gave you a drug that lowered your Serotonin. Thus taking the brakes off your impulsivity.

At the same time, I will give you a drug that increases Dopamine sensitivity. Further reducing your willpower to stay away from pleasurable sources. Eating fried chicken is going to be like smoking crack to you. What's worse is that each time you do it will have a compounding effect, high dopamine will make sure that there is a pleasure superhighway leading to fried chicken after only a few bites.

You would find yourself not being able to distance yourself from any kind of pleasure source. If you've ever enjoyed a McDonalds burger before, you will find yourself walking past that McDonalds, and you will find walk in and buy a burger and nothing will stop that.

Now after you eat that burger you may feel guilty. You may feel that you could have prevented it, but the reality is doing such a feat is almost impossible for you without any brake pads and a hyper sensitive reward system.

Actually just think about it for a moment. If there is a strong correlation between how good your marketing team is and sales, doesn't that suggest that a lot people don't really have free will over something like this?

I mean this isn't some random guy sticking up posters, this is a million dollar advertising campaign that pretty much guarantees higher returns. There's a big difference, they know how to get into peoples minds so they basically don't have a choice. This is a very real thing.

If you blast weak minded people in the face with enough ads their willpower will be eroded to the point where they have no choice but to fill those dopamine receptors.
