The beginner's guide to Italian style

This is in no way an actual guide, it’s basically just your personal idealisms and inspiration

OP is Italian and she is sharing her own fashion philosophy as Italian which is, coincidentally, shared by many, many other Italian women and Italian society at large.

Please go read some feminism 101 before stereotyping women like this. Or maybe just even read out loud what you are saying before you hit enter on a keyboard? You are implying that there is only One Italian Woman and that she uses Her Inherent Feminine* Qualities to her advantage. What the fuck?

I think in the context of a short, concise guide, this is fine. What was she supposed to do, list every single type of woman that ever lived on the Italic peninsula? The stereotype of the feminine Italian woman is a stereotype that has some grain of truth to it--Mediterranean societies are still patriarchical, with women playing the role of the feminine and men playing the role of the masculine, as seen by traditional gender roles. This is not a fact nor a secret.

Also why is this guide written “FOR AMERICAN WOMEN” as if Americans are somehow subpar to these walking goddesses?

This subreddit is mostly populated by American women.

If you have a chance, just sit in Antwerp Centraal Station or Leicester Square in London for an hour and see all of the frizzed hair and outdated fashion that you would otherwise not take into account like you would a truly well put together woman who catches your eye for whatever reason.

Of course. Not every Italian is going to be well dressed, and I think you'd have to be pretty daft not to realize this and not take the guide with a grain of salt.

Water is also one of the most essential needs for non-Italians, who knew!?

You'd be surprised. Many people don't!

How are sweatpants timeless, classic, chic, or a “workhorse” piece? They are a trend, something you said Italian women don’t pay mind to. Also, the all black collage? Trend. The cross-strapped sandals? The leather ankle boots? Trend. Even the waterfall cardigans are a trend, and one that is already on it's way out. So much for classic.

Those are all items that I could see someone getting years and years of wear out of. There are no bells and whistles and no embellishments. You could absolutely wear a pair of easy cashmere grey pants in many situations for many years, as well as leather ankle boots and cardigans. We are not talking sequined jumpers with rhinestone epaulets here. Also, correct me if I am wrong, but this guide is not an actual how to as in, OMG WEAR THESE CLOTHES OR ELSE. The idea is to, again, take it with a grain of salt and get inspiration from it.

even neutrals have different temperatures that can work or not work with someone’s skin tone

... which is pretty much what OP said. She said to make any neutral work by pairing it with a color that flatters you closer to your face.
