Belgium declares loot boxes gambling and therefore illegal

at least in the short term

Exactly. It's a start and I wouldn't underestimate chain reactions. Those are people that will talk trash against them. People will tell each other in discussions complaining about lootboxes "hey, it's illegal in some countries". Other countries with similar values may join in through various means, not in the least the EU. And then the true bandwagoning starts if this is popular. Maybe this will turn out to be a romantic fantasy, but I for one am eager to see how it turns out. It could even be a stepping stone to showing corporations aren't the boss, someone just needs to start. Think taxes. The only thing that separates us from controlling corporations is unity. So hey, let's support Belgium in such a bold and human decision. They're certainly getting a non-sarcastic slowclap from me.
