I know just enough about the religion to not make a fool of myself if my mom or grandmother drags me to Temple.

Knowing passages of the Bible doesn't mean anything, you can throw a Christian into a synagogue and he can recount passages, stories or certain laws (perhaps) of the Jewish Torah.

You won't be picked on by a Rabbi who'll put you on the spot, a Rabbi will just make his lectures on the Parashah of the week (if you even show up to those), or the attendees will show up on certain times of the day (3 times a day, most show up only for the morning prayers) to do prayers orally with the whole synagogue.

In fact, many don't even attend all three; most only show up before Shabbat officially begins or on the eve of certain holidays.

Besides, most Jews in the United States aren't even that religious, many of them don't know the prayers and a considerable amount can't even speak Hebrew - so what are you talking about with making a fool of yourself?

I bet you and your mother have never even walked into a place of worship.
