Both are in the wrong but look at how the pictures are depicted

t is perfectly equitable to invest the systems' resources for correcting the societal effects of this discrimination.

If your argument is that we should "provide justice" on a society that was built on unjust means, then you only wish to tear down what exists from some misguided notion of "what is right". If this is truly your opinion, and if this is the opinion you fight for, you will find yourself falling flat again and again and again. People aren't going to tear down society for the sake of what is "right".

I do not want "equality" I want to be living in the most prosperous society and living in the best conditions I can possibly be in. The best way to achieve that is to join arms with the people around me and fight as one for a greater goal.

Don't get me wrong. This greater goal includes the production of fair systems of justice that do not arbitrarily punish or judge people, but instead are lenient and focus on rehabilitation. It includes ensuring our police forces are not racist assholes who can get away with murder. It includes providing the means for the poor to have access to the infrastructure and capital that will allow them to improve themselves and build something great.

Without a doubt, those are things I support, but I do not support them out of some idea of "correcting the evils of history". We are built on graveyards, our bodies made from animals or plants who didn't deserve to die, and our homes built on land that belonged to someone else, or some-animal-else before it was taken from them by force.

If I wanted to correct injustice, I'd shoot myself right now.

Human beings are not ever going to live a life that is "fair" or "good" or "moral". We are assholes, selfish assholes, every last one of us. We try to make up for it by being "against racism" or "pro environment", but at the end of the day we just draw a line at how big an asshole we are going to be. You can be an asshole, or you can be an asshole and a hypocrite. We will always be alive and happy here today become something else died to let us be here in the first place.

I don't want "equality" or to "do the right thing". I want to live in a healthy and functional society that does just enough damage to benefit while not doing enough to destroy itself through processes like global warming. I want to live in a society where all people can realize their full potential and produce amazing things beyond what I could ever have. I want to have a nice happy stable life that is boring as hell where I have a house and some hobbies and get to watch as I and those around me slowly build up society and make our mark on the universe.

So I will never be "fair", I'll instead be selfish. Wanting a society that does what is "right" is not "fair", it's selfish. Fuck correcting history, I don't care if it's "fair" that someone's parents faced bad situations. I care that because they are in this situation that they aren't out there making the next facebook or working a 9 to 5 job. I love facebook. I love calling up a support center to get help with the product I just bought with my own money.

Instead the people who face these injustices are stealing food to get by and were fucking raised to think and act that way, by means of poverty and other crap. It doesn't have to be that way. Our world isn't a zero sum game, and the improvement of those in bad conditions is not a cost it is an unrealized potential.

Until you start really and truly infusing that into conversations of race, nothing is going to change. The reason I think that? People are selfish assholes, not saints.
