Boy Scouts of America may file for bankruptcy protection amid sex-abuse lawsuits

Okay. Listen. I know you’re one of those Christians who believes that your religion is under attack, that you’re being oppressed, blah blah blah, but this is just sad.

You’re obviously middle-aged, or older. The world is changing. I know you hate it, but LGBTQ people are allowed to exist in public now. We’re allowed to give our opinions, to criticize, to make ourselves known. You might see that as arrogance. Maybe you see it as being uppity. You certainly see it as intolerance.

You can continue to project and gaslight as much as you want. Your efforts to smear me and make me look like just another hysterical progressive are hollow and frankly, beneath you. It is plainly obvious what you’re trying to do, and I’m going to give it to you straight: you’re really bad at it.

You clearly are not used to your beliefs being challenged. Maybe you’re the patriarch of your family, the sole breadwinner. Whatever the case, you cannot help but fill every post with vitriol and hyperbole.

This is a longwinded way of saying this conversation has run its course. You have no actual point to make, and the fact that you’re willing to accuse victims of sexual abuse of being members of a “progressive mafia” shows that you’re acting in bad faith.

So I bid you goodnight, and I leave you with three thoughts:

A. Dissent is not intolerance, nor is taking issue with homophobia. Intolerance of intolerance is not a bad thing.

B. You have expended time and emotional energy defending an organization with a history of widespread child abuse. You have also labeled critics of said organization “pieces of shit” and “intolerant.” You should reflect on that.

C. You have consistently displayed the very attitude that set me down the path to abandoning Christianity. In this case, your fervent apologia for the BSA is appropriate: like the BSA, you are your own worst enemy.
