Breaking up

I’ve been going through cycles like this a lot recently. The cycles are getting shallower (with effort), and I’m learning some things that help. Here’s what I would tell myself on a bad day, written by myself on a good day:

You’re not alone. This is life’s hardest lesson. What you’re feeling is real, and it’s not just or fair. Never stop accepting the truth of it, and let the lesson work it’s way through your system. Don’t resist it. Let it hurt, that means it’s working.

And always know that you’re not alone. You’re not the only one whose been hurt by others this way, and you certainly won’t be the last. If you let life teach you, it can show you how to never feel this kind of pain again. How to put yourself first.

Choose you, keep the mental lens on your own health and safety, and feel your feelings. Grow compassion for yourself. Talk to yourself the way you talk to others. Console yourself the way you’d console a friend. Love yourself unconditionally. Love who you are in this moment, and every moment after it.

Best wishes and all the love to you on your healing journey. You’ve got this!
