I can’t really speak at all for women about how often this happens as I’m male but usually the justification for ghosting from their end is that guys will freak out when they reject someone straight up.

I understand the need at the end of a date to be cordial and act like a date went well when it didn’t because you’re still in that guy’s presence and you have no idea how he’ll respond. It’s about your safety at that point.

But if the guy is texting you politely trying to hang out again and your reason for ghosting is “oh maybe he’ll freak out over text,” than this reasoning is just a cop out excuse to justify rude behavior.

I also think this is why casual dating is so popular now. Ghosting is just behavior that I expect from women at this point and I’m as confident as I’ve ever been because of this.

So as a result I no longer care if any woman is into me which has led to me having a lot more options. It’s made it significantly harder for me to land on one person and say this person is good enough for me, so I end up rarely, if ever, getting excited about one person.
