What date did those things occur on? What date did the holocaust occur on? What date was the genocide of the native Americans?

Lmao you fucking idiot. That is exactly my point. They didn't happen on any specific day, dumbass. They happened over a long period of time. Changing the date means fucking nothing because a. the genocide didn't even begin on January 26th and b. the entire argument is that celebrating our nation is celebrating genocide because that is inherently tied to our history. So the only option is to either not celebrate Australia at all to appease this minority who wants to see the date changed for no reason other than making themselves feel good, or to stop being so sensitive over the fact that we like to celebrate how far we have come as a nation.

I'm really, truly sorry that we can't just rewrite history for you. I really am. But maybe instead of having an autistic fit and screaming about how you want the day changed, just accept that it happened and it was bad, and celebrate the fact that we've come so far since then.

By the way, if you actually gave a shit about aboriginal people and weren't just trying to score virtue points you would be less concerned about superficial acts like changing the date and you'd actually go out and help aboriginal communities which are suffering.
