Can we talk about toddlers and Covid risk?

I am very slowly coming around to this conclusion, albeit hesitantly. My husband and I are both fully vaxxed, including boosters. We wear masks whenever possible. I can count on one hand how many times I’ve eaten at an indoor restaurant in the past two years. We’re big believers in antigen testing and staying home if we don’t feel well.

In the end, my field is pretty contingent on me going back to social gatherings. Just came from an indoor, 200 person work event just now. I have to do lunch and coffee meetings. And so I’ve had to get more comfortable with the idea.

Basically, we’ve done everything we could reasonably (besides shutting ourselves away completely) to mitage risk. Our kiddos are very likely going to be okay if they get COVID. but we didn’t live in a 100% risk free environment before (my first was born during flu season and we still ate out at restaurants!).

For us, we’ll continue to keep an eye on case rates in our area, wear masks, avoid big group settings indoors whenever possible, and get our kids vaxxed ASAP. But I think we’re likely going to be a little bit more lax than we have been.
