Canada's aging warships to be replaced with off-the-shelf designs but no numbers released

  • In the first video they are interviewing a retired Coast Guard captain who has never been on an MSPV vessel, how is it he knows anything about them?
  • In your second reference Irving acknowledges minor; I imagine shipbuilding like any large project has clean up items. Look at any large building, or even new house construction, they are always going back and fixing trim and other minor issues.
  • In your third reference the former union president mentions problems but does not go into any specific details. The way this article reads is that it is a dispute between a former employee and their employer. Also, you say that the UK vessels have the safety features that are missing but you haven't explained what those safety features are.
  • With reference to your fourth reference; steel rusts if not maintained
  • Your fifth reference is an opinion letter from a former coast guard captain (maybe the guy from the first video) where he is saying that it is not suited for search and rescue in rough seas. Is that the role of the Midshore Patrol Vessels? According to the CCG website they are meant for "maritime security missions".
  • Last but not least you are comparing the cost of two vessels which have the same hull design but we don't know anything about the designs of the inside of the ships. (apples and oranges?) Just my quick observation looking at the photos it looks like the exhaust on the UK ship is coming out the side and when I've seen an MSPV go by in the harbour it is coming out the back. If that changed then how much else changed, and how much of that cost was associated with making those changes.

What I am talking about is the fact that all those articles and stories are just hearsay.
