Sex is not important for everyone. And nobody thinks about it much when you are both sexually compatible. But unless the two of you are asexual, then any sexual discrepancy suddenly becomes very important.

For people with a normal libido, sex is the glue that keeps the relationship together. When you don't have sex, you are training your body to see her just as a friend. Eventually your body won't get erections for her because it knows its useless. No sex will happen. You still love her of course...years pass.

Then one day you wake up and you have a raging erection for another woman. You are in love and she's all you can think about day and night. And suddenly your sexless princess will have no power over you what so ever, unless she's managed to marry you and saddle you with some kids and debt first. How do they do it?

Well some will offer lots of sex until you are hooked then switch it off after obligations enter the picture, you are trapped. The really obvious ones though are famous for asking to forgo sex before marriage. Then after marriage you have sex often enough to have children and that's it.
