Celebrating fat people as “big and beautiful” is incredibly stupid. It’s just as moronic as celebrating the skinny and malnourished as “sexy”. It condones and encourages bad health and should be stopped.

You’re missing my point. If more than half the population is fat, why is this still such an emphasis on the personal responsibility of the individuals without the recognition that the individuals live in a culture that is designed to make people fat?

Yes, there is personal responsibility involved. But people have all kinds of failings when it comes to personal responsibility. But you don’t see the same hatred...and...yes...there is A LOT of hatred and disgust for fat people here that you don’t see for people who say... play video games all the time or are skinny but never exercise or are lazy about their careers.

Instead of hating or criticizing fat people, criticize a culture where huge restaurant portions are the norm, where candy bars are sold everywhere—including the office supply store, where school lunches are unhealthy. It’s hard NOT to be fat in our current culture, and while it’s laudable to work at that, we should point the onus on the culture that’s creating this problem instead of constantly focusing on the individuals who are suffering because of it.
