I deleted this originally but eh fuck it. I was in a room with millionaires, no one's liquid net worth was under a million dollars, and everyone was discussing the minimum wage. I said "raise the minimum wage because the end result can only be two scenarios...1) you create demand for automation that can do those jobs more or less for free and the end result is an advancement in technology that makes everyone's lives better, incentive technological progress or 2) people make more money and there is more capital pooled lower in the work force creating a balance of spending power and everyone chills the fuck out with regards to debauchery of the ultra rich...until it gets SO bad that someone develops automation to replace those jobs and we leap ahead technologically." Obviously my end game is automation everywhere and anywhere it's possible. However, you would have thought I was calling for a nuclear holocaust against the entire species. The desire among the ultra rich really seems to be a complete abolition of the minimum wage and something approaching slave labor. Republican, Democrat, Left, Right, I don't even know, but there is something deeply fucking twisted about the end games of the various factions on our planet.
