CIA blames National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden for Paris attacks

Everyone saying how bullshit this is needs to take a step back and look at the circumstantial evidence surrounding these statements. Edward Snowden absolutely contributed, albeit inadvertently, to the increased level of awareness of how to avoid SIGINT spooks. He explained, sometimes with impressive specificity, how the NSA and associated agencies gather, sort, and analyze data. By saying how it's done, he's inadvertently explaining how to avoid it by implication. The tactics he used to disguise his location, personal information, and transmissions (like when he wore a large hooded sweatshirt and covered up his laptop keyboard) illustrate by implication the capabilities intelligence agencies have in conducting SIGINT operations.

That said, to "blame" Snowden for anything is ridiculous. Sure he contributed to the abilities of terrorists to hide their technological footprint, but those contributions were inadvertent and minuscule. It's not like he wrote a "How to Avoid the NSA Using These Five Simple Steps" or anything. He just shined a bright light on a very dark topic, and that light allowed those paying attention to his revelations a quick glimpse of what the NSA can do and how they do it. Also, the CIA has a lot of trouble with paradigm shifts. They struggled to shake off the Cold War mentality for decades up until near to when the Twin Towers were hit, just like they're struggling to keep up to speed on how common encryption is and how easy it is to move across international borders unmolested.

It just seems like a bunch of outdated cloak and dagger types blaming a computer guy for talking about computer stuff because computer stuff was used at some point to set up the Paris operation.
