CMV: American police do not enforce traffic laws sufficiently

Those stats just show that more people are texting and driving, not that texting and driving is somehow less safe.

If 18% of people on the rode are texting while driving, then yea, 18% of accidents will involve someone texting and driving.

And yea, it's a personal thing to me that you are promoting the restricting of my liberties and encouraging more police crackdown on otherwise innocent people by making up arbitrary rules that don't serve any purpose.

Say I'm using my phone, attached to my dash, as a gps and a cop attempts to pull me over for it thinking I'm using it in my hand cuz he can't see good enough. I panic and get into an accident. Was the accident his fault or mine (or more strictly, the fault of the people who make the laws)?

This happens all the time, police pulling people over cause more danger than the person doing the "illegal" acts. It's not right and I'm firmly opposed to it.

If someone is swerving all over the road, that's one thing... but if someone is otherwise completely in control of their vehicle, how can that be an offense?
