CMV: I believe the only way we can have quality news online is by paying for it and/or supporting it with adviews. I am against people who circumvent paywalls & use adblock. I am against piracy.

Disagree with the BBC love here - I haven't watched television in years - except for when I'm round someone elses' house and they have it on. There's literally nothing good on at all. We literally only pay our license fee because we have a tv for our playstation and to watch dvds. I am annoyed I am indirectly funding such lousy programming

Let's look at what's on BBC One today:

  • 06:00 - News - BBC news is alright but it's remit for political non-bias makes it bland. They never cover the issues that interest me, which is why I get my news from RSS feeds, local newspapers and news sites that have commentary, opinion and cultural reviews.
  • 09:15 - The Wanted - A tv show about police in a borough in Manchester. Not my cup of tea.
  • 10:00 - Homes Under the Hammer. Two bland bastards you've never met looking round moderately priced semi-detached houses they might want to buy but at the end of the episode ususally don't.
  • 11:00 - The Housing Enforcers - There's something in the water for housing officers in the Lake District! OH EXCITING. nope not interested/
  • 11:30 - Neighbourhood Blues - The neighbourhood team in Bath track down a prolific shoplifter who has struck again! not interested.
  • 12:15 - Bargain Hunt. Bargain hunt is the most depressing daytime tv show - auction hall, people buying cheap junk and auctioning it off at a loss.
  • 13:00 - News again
  • 14:15 - The Edge - some general knowledge quiz show with Gabi Logan.
  • 15:00 Escape to the Country - another house buying programme - "Host Jules Hudson heads to Anglesey to help a couple find a permanent base on the Welsh island!" - not going to watch that! I don't know these people, I don't care which average house they end up buying. It's not Cribs, is it. I got colleagues at work thinking of moving house - at least I know them and kind of care about where they live? I wouldn't watch a 45min show documentary of them at the viewings though? I wouldn't even watch a documentary about my own house viewings, how dull is that?
  • 15:45 - My Life on a Plate - Anneka Rice is thrilled to revisit special places from her youth in Surrey. I have no idea who anneka rice is.
  • 16:30 - Flog It! - Another auction hall show?!
  • 17:15 - Pointless - pointless is actually pretty great. 45 minutes of redeeming tv there.
  • 18:00 - More news
  • 19:00 - The One Show - Oh man. I abhor the one show. Those trumpets at the beginning of the theme tune curdles my soul. Having Chris Evans present it was the final nail in the coffin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLMD1kyOaIo
  • 19:30 - BBC Children in Need - Millionaires telling you to "give what you can", unfortunately for many of the British public, the only time the donate to charity in the year.
