CMV: I believe in separating an artist from their work, and think it's fine to enjoy their work even if I find their worldview abhorrent.

What is important to remember here is that people who you disagree with, even on a fundamental level, are capable of being just as, or more intelligent and creative as those you agree with. Orson Scott Card is probably my favorite example of this. Dude is a homophobic Mormon who espouses communist and socially conservative viewpoints at the same time, but, he wrote one of the best sci-fi novels of all time in Ender's game. I didn't know he had these views prior to reading the book, but learning that he is a bit of a dick didn't change my opinion of the work, or make me regret reading it, or prevent me from reccomending it to anybody who can read. If we start determining what art we consume based solely on the character of its creator, we would be depriving ourselves of some of the greatest content ever made. John Lennon was a domestic abuser who treated his son like garbage, Chuck Berry liked to pee on prostitutes, Harvey Weinstein...well you know. For me as long as the viewpoints or actions are insulated from the work, I don't really care that they exist. John Lennon didn't base his career on wife beating, Chuck Berry never wrote a song about peeing on hookers and there is no chapter in Ender's game called "God Hates Fags". Although I do find myself poisoned to anything Roman Polanski related, but that's because I believe he should die in prison. I suppose it's all relative in that regard
