CMV: Cultural appropriation criticisms are uni-directions by ignoring all aspects of the western culture which were appropriated by non-westerners.

Whether you care to make that distinction or agree to the idea of abstract concepts (style, food, music, etc) as things that can be "stolen" or have value is a separate matter.

I believe this is actually very important to clear up before getting into this argument because if you don't agree that these things can be stolen, which I don't agree, then it's pointless to even have a discussion as leads to ad-hominem as is the case when you acuse me of lacking emphaty. I can attest that I don't lack empathy, I have a lot of empathy when it comes to issues that are real to me, but this is a non issue to me. I could argue that you have no empathy because you don't understand this is a non issue for me. Legally with the exception of music, things like fashion and style, food, culture, can't be pattented and there's a good reason for this. Morally, I see no problem in copying these things even so temporarily. I have once been deep into grunge culture, dressed talked and walked like you'd spect from those into that scene. I have given up that entirely and there's nothing in me left that resembles that. The problem is you can't know and you'll never know whether I was genuinely into that or was appropriating of grunge culture for a while. If you can't make that distinction, which you can't, then it becomes problematic for others to acuse you of cultural appropriation.
