CMV: The reaction to hate groups should be to simply ignore them

Insignificant how? In the most recent situation in Charlottesville, they were protesting the removal of a statue the citizens of that town had expressed a desire to remove. Their demonstration -- which extended outside of the hours their permit designated -- in a town which many of the protesters did not even reside is anything but insignificant.

Ironically that's all it would be if so much attention wasn't given to it. A rowdy incident occurs in a town of 50k people that almost no-one has ever had a thought about. Certainly a more favourable outcome.

Your personal experience isn't the same as everyone else's. I am a minority, and have been aware of these hate groups and their presence for the last 20 years, since I was a kid. There were a whole lot of them in my town and the surrounding area. I think minority status could be a contributing factor in how aware you are of groups that hold prejudice against you, but that's just a theory.

Isn't it the opposite, hate groups are so rare that the the majority of people will never have contact with them. But i'm sorry for your circumstances.
