Men make fun of those guys for an ego boost, women make fun of those guys because there is no downside.

They get taken advantage of by chad(relative to their level of attractiveness) they wont take their anger out on guys they desire, so they punch down, and others support and encourage it.

I think exceptions aside, most guys know about where they stand and if anything are pessimists about it. women have a lot of factors distorting that awareness.

That's an oversimplification, exceptions exist, but its still a useful generalization.

A woman who has a poor sense of where she stands will reach too far and end up in one short term relationship after another with a guys who dont see her as LTR material.
