I think Chelsea could have done better in personality, for sure, but I think she is the lucky one in this relationship. Cole was handsome (and there are way more pretty girls out there that handsome guys), had no past / baggage, supposedly went to at least some college, was extraordinarily good at soccer, came from a decent family, had a steady job, has an agreeable personality (though I agree that it’s too agreeable, and I wouldn’t personally want someone like that), and is looking for a serious commitment at a young age, which is rare for guys that age, and much more common in girls. Chelsea brought a child, a drug addicted ex, a past of mediocrity / being on a trashy reality show and forever associated with that, an inability to make a living without said TV show to the table, not the nicest personality...and a few positives...looks, decent family, MTV cash. The $$ might be a bigger bargaining chip than anything cole brought, but organically, I think he would have been way out of her league. Without MTV, I doubt cole would have given her a second glance. Her sister Emily, who also is a single mom and looks a lot like Chelsea, didn’t marry until she was in her thirties, and married a very average country boy, and both still work. I think Chelsea would have had a similar fate without MTV. I do agree that with MTV, she could have found someone with a better personality, but like you said, she likes the ass kissing (until she gets annoyed by it and snaps).
