A combat veteran with PTSD wasn’t allowed to fly with her service dog. So she sued.

Two years ago there was a story about a Boston bombing victim being kicked out of a T.J. Maxx because of her service dog. Here

Hearing the story was pretty infuriating, because why would someone with a properly labeled service dog be put through this? It wasn't until I saw the way this person was representing the animal as one for "service" that I sided with the judgment call the manager made.

Without sounding insensitive, I have never seen a poodle considered one. Dogs such as Labradors and German Shepherds are the ones I've frequently seen and understand to be born and bred for the purpose of aiding those with disabilities. The vests are usually neon yellow and have bolded "SERVICE DOG" printed large across the part wrapping around the back to the side of the belly. The one the person in the article has on her dog looks inauthentic. u/munchies777 mentioned how easy it was to file "paperwork" and buy a vest online.

The ADA should cover emotional support without there being such a grey area. If the law is convoluted enough that any dog can be considered as such, everyone is being done a disservice.
