I am not from the USA and therefore I am not very familiar with American history (in detail). Nevertheless, I have a certain amount of previous knowledge about confederacy and the way its treated here surprises me. Where does the "enthusiasm" for confederacy come from? As a German citizen, I myself have learned a certain way of dealing with history. This is very different from the American one. I find it surprising how one can still hold this racist part of history in high regard. Or is this part just ignored and you focus on other things?

I don't want to start an argument here, but I would appreciate honest answers. Whatever my political position is on this one, I would like to understand yours.
