Could Australia wake up with a new monarch tomorrow?

Oh no, certainly not by tomorrow - it takes a great deal of time for the longest continuing monarchy in the world to complete its many formalities - formalities of which will not have been performed by any Palace official alive today. If one thinks of the pomp and ceremony involved with the election of any new Pope - yet considers that we have had a multitude of Pope's elected, pass on and be replaced via yet another election since 1954, all the while one singular British monarch reigned, then the enormity of the coronation occasion can begin to be appreciated. The last time our monarch passed away - King George VI in 1952, it was over a year before Queen Elizabeth II was coronated. One could expect a shorter delay before Prince Charles is crowned King Charles III, and perhaps shorter still for Prince William to be crowned King William V but at its earliest it would be some many months for all the world's dignitaries, leaders and VIP's around the world to attend, logistics to organised, planning made, ceremonies prepared etc. Its like will have not been seen in a long time.
