Daily Discussion 26 January 2017

I'm really not trying to be rude here, but please stop pestering me.

It's my opinion that running > walking, and I don't need to be apologetic for that. I never judge people who are just starting out, but I'm also not going to write a novel about the individuals at the gym using the treadmills to explain why I am slightly annoyed on the occasion I can't hop right on a treadmill. It was honestly just an off-hand comment about a personal feeling because I don't have the time to just walk for an hour to burn the same amount of calories I could by running for less than half that time. For me personally, walking is just a waste of time unless it's for my dogs therefore I don't do it on a treadmill. That's not saying walking on a treadmill is inherently wrong in my eyes, just not my personal choice. Period. This isn't about shaming anyone in any way. It literally is just a minor annoyance to not be able to get in a quick run when it's dark outside without a wait sometimes. I'm sure you feel a minor annoyance say, when the grocery store line is super long, or when you have to sit in traffic and didn't expect it. It's the same, very minor annoyance of knowing you can't change the situation, you can only wait. I think it's completely fine that we don't agree, and I absolutely think it's fair that you think it's "mean" or "wrong" of me to feel the way I do, but it's not fair of you to attempt to force me to change my opinion. It's like abortion, politics, religion, etc - some people just aren't going to agree with how you feel about it. It's much better to shrug it off, keep believing and doing what you do, and move on. You're absolutely entitled to your own opinions and feelings (even if they're about someone else's), but it's also nice to respect others and agree to disagree sometimes. I've been trying my best to be respectful in this conversation, and I apologize if at any point I came off otherwise. Your hostility did make it a challenge if I'm being honest. I can tell that I've offended you, and I'm sorry for that, but perhaps not taking everything you read by a stranger on the internet so personally would be a much better way to live. I do not plan to respond to any more of your comments at this time.
