(Day 28/65): What do CFB fans think about the Michigan State Spartans?

I'm very excited to see what this next season brings us. We'll have a few more tallies in the loss column given the loss of some of our star players, trips to PSU and Notre Dame, as well as an already difficult B1G schedule (crossover games at home against Wisconsin and Northwestern).

I pray that the secondary can improve during the offseason. Copeland's return will hopefully help, but with U of M and Penn State continually on the rise, we cannot have that unit be so poor and expect to be in the running for another B1G championship.

The quarterback battle should be fun this offseason. I give the slight edge to Tyler O'Connor based on performances last season, but Damien Terry is more of a duel threat, plus he still has two years left, so we'll be seeing him in the future regardless. That said, I expect both of them will see good amounts of playing time, regardless as to who starts.

Michael Geiger struggled a bit with his field goals this season, but a transfer from Western and incoming freshman will provide competition to him, so I'm not too worried about that. Punt coverage needs to improve, vastly as we gave up returns to Oregon, Western, and Alabama. Can't afford to do that in tight conference games this year.

Obviously we lose a ton of talent, but we should be equipped to replace it, for the most part. The O Line is taking massive losses, so that's what I'm most worried about on offense. We have some up and coming receivers that will soften the blow of losing Burbridge and Kings, they just need to be quick to adapt. The RB situation is exciting with Scott, London, and Holmes all back. I expect that LJ will be featured primarily, with some rotation.

All in all, a 9-3 season would be quite successful this year given the schedule. 8-4 seems realistic too. As a student, I'm so pumped for an awesome home slate!!! I'm gonna try and get tickets for Notre Dame as well.

One last thing I didn't mention when talking about the defense- Does anyone know the status of Ed Davis (star linebacker that sat out last season with a knee injury)? If he gets his medical redshirt and comes back, that would crucial.

Go Green!
