Debunking the "Republicans and Democrats switched sides due to the Southern Strategy" myth

that's what i always wonder... obviously many opinions are held. where does the line between racist-conservative and enabling-liberal come and go? it's easy to paint every conservative in a racist light because they are opposing laws, when natural rights should cover those laws anyways. but then you have white men killing black men for being black so the rhetoric of, "we'll adjust ourselves, we don't need laws." kind of goes out the window. if the right could just lose the people who want to enact MORE laws.. such as the transgender bathroom laws.. i think it'd be an easier conversation to have. "we are simply against gay marriage becoming law, because we believe that marriage should not be a part of the government." "we are not against education, we are against the federal government making mandates on what is taught." the media, and for that matter most of the right, don't tend to paint it that way. i think that's what the right should focus on. how to get back to being small, with states rights, and an overarching federal government to provide a semblance of balance. not take the whole weight. i'm probably rambling.. thoughts and input welcome.
