Funny thing is, the investigation into Trump started before he took office. Because of Obama’s use of an executive order to amend a previous Reagan era executive order, the federal government can surveil any citizen at any time without a warrant (and they do). There are streams of data from everyone in the country be parsed and filtered for specific terms every single second. That’s how all of this started (well, it was actually an investigation into someone else that suddenly implicated Donald Trump...). Trump was a civilian when this started and has absolutely no claim here. The whole “investigate the investigators” pivot is for the court of public opinion and not an actual court of law. It’s the last ditch effort of an extremely desperate man to avoid the consequences of his actions.
