Denim for thick waist / higher waist-to-hip ratio: share your favorites!

I am a pear who carries most of my weight on my upper thighs. Waist is 27-28”, hips/butt is 38” with 24” thighs. I typically experience jeans being too big at the waist or too tight at the hips.

I also dislike stretchy jeans, which are usually the type of jeans recommended for measurements like mine.

However, I have a lot of jeans! So hopefully I can rec a few pairs that will fit those with similar measurements to me.

I have success in:

  • Levi’s Wedgie Straight (worn here and here) - wearing a 27 and a belt isn’t necessary.

  • Levi’s 501 skinny jeans (men’s version) - strangely these men’s skinny jeans are my fave skinny jeans. I don’t have a photo yet of it. I have a size 29 (again, this is men’s sizing) and it just fits my butt and the waist gapes a bit at the back. Still moulding to my body, but they are a great cut and wash.

  • Topshop Dree jeans (worn here) - I seem to be a true 27 and a 26 was too small and a 28 is a bit loose. However, a slightly loose look suits these jeans. A belt is sometimes necessary, but only because these don’t come I half sizes so it’s overall a little loose.

  • ASOS Farleigh jeans (blue worn here and black worn here) - I can rec these for those with thicker thighs who want skinny jeans that aren’t stretchy. Just need to get your correct size. The blue I have in a petite 28 and the black in regular 26.
