I get depressed when see all these stocks that have gone up like 1,000%

There are millions of people in the trading and investing subreddits, and you might see a dozen or two a week that meet all the criteria. Don't sweat it too much, it's like watching someone win the Hot Lotto, the odds are really that long. You usually need to get in when there is no news and no volume and no action, with a significant amount of money and with options, and you need to wait for weeks or months, losing money on the time premium, and then you get lucky and something happens... or nothing.

For every Tesla there are about 300 stocks that just don't make it. Back in 2013 when TSLA was beyond wildly speculative, there was an IPO for Fireeye, lots of people jumped in on that because they had somewhat okay revenue and they were in a not-so crowded market, at the time it seemed that on paper it'd be more viable, but hey, they're still to this day trading under their IPO price and in that time Tesla went from about 20 bucks to almost 1000.

I'd say to get 1000%+ gains you have to take on a level of risk that would statistically make you lose enough money to the point that you'd stop making those trades, and no matter how much DD you do, there is still some amount of luck involved. Most people aren't willing to even put themselves in the position to see gains like that because before something takes off, there is a lot of stagnation and there are lots of losses, meanwhile, it seems like everything else is printing money in comparison.
