I mean the idea of a "mail order bride" isnt something thats unique to Thailand. A lot of eastern europeans women would marry men from western countries and move there after the collapse of the eastern bloc.

I just mentioned thai-wives because thats whats most common in Denmark, where i live. Obviously its more complex than some comment on reddit can summarize, and im sure the idea of marrying rich and moving to a western country represents a better life for some of these women and that it might even be something some of them genuinely aspire towards. But i still think these people in western countries are taking advantage of these women and engaging in "soft" human trafficking (if you can even use the word soft here) and i find both that and especially those men despicable - be that with thai, fillipino, belarussian, ukranian or from wherever wives.
