It's a valid criticism of the MCU. Disney make what's known as high concept media. Literally, I mean, literally made to please people by being simple and accessible but still providing entertainment. This is a fact. I still love the MCU. I grew up with it. But in regards to superhero films, Zack and the MCU are completely different styles and shouldn't be compared as though they're the same thing. That's lazy.

What's good about Zack is that he tries shit. Nolan was decent. Raimi was great as well. Shyamalan too. What they all have in common is that they make their own vision. That's something that is starting to mean less and less as cinema is following the same trend of music and all the other arts: oversaturation of controlled "products", which is precisely what the MCU is. I can still appreciate it while being able to criticise the facts of its existence.

Just look at Ragnarok compared to Jojo Rabbit. The difference is astounding. Iron Man 3 compared to The Nice Guys. I'm not one of "those Snyder fans". I simply like his films most of all in the genre because they're his art. By taking away creative freedom from an artist you're getting something watered down. That's what all directors have to do in order to make an MCU film.
