Divorce lawyers of reddit, what are some of your most memorable cases?

One time I had a client who was fighting for custody. She kept telling me these outlandish stories about her (soon to be ex) husband, that he openly injected drugs at the dinner table, that he would hit her almost every night, given her STDs, just horrible things. I asked her if she had any proof and she just starts to cry and said its my word against his, nobody will back me up.

I then advised her to try and find some evidence, and told her about some wonderful local private investigators that I could vouch for. Then, her weeping turns to all-out sobbing, saying she took out s loan just to pay my retainer.

So, my heart-strings were tugged and I decided to foot the bill, plus I had a friend who owed me a favor for a DUI representation. I call the guy up and he agreed to check it out.

About a week later, I get a call from the PI, and he said he had to see me right away. I asked if it was as bad as the wife told me, and he said it was worse, and he had pictures and video to show me.

When he got to my office he looked kind of frightened to be honest. I asked him what was wrong, and he rolls my chair away from my desk and plugs in his USB drive, and opened a folder.

The video he showed me was obviously taken from inside his van, and looked to be across the street and a house or two over from the husbands house. He kept asking me if I saw it, and I didn't really understand what he meant. Then he starts pointing at the monitor and almost shaking saying "RIGHT THERE LOOK!". And then I saw what looked to be a five story tall creature from the Mesozoic era, and the PI tells me that it's the Loch Ness monster and he just gave him three fiddy last week. I couldn't believe what he was telling me, but the proof was right there in front of me and there was no denying the truth.

TL;DR - clients ex husband is a monster, and she had a pretty decent case.
