The universe has a way of balancing itself and this evil which arises from the desire to control, to stack the deck, eliminate uncertainty entirely, and squeeze every drop of life out of those around you, is a virulent strain of nihilistic greed that consumes everything in its path, including the elite that summoned it into our world. You as the elite want others to see you as a good person, a champion of mankind, so you promote the idea that greed and exploitation are good. You can't just promote the idea that "a little greed is good" so you push it further and further. You have no choice because if you concede greed is not good, you open the door to allowing yourself to be the bad guy, to having your toys taken away. So the whole time you are pushing this idea further, cracks start to form in the walls that used to keep all the REAL bad guys out. The further you push, the more the cracks form, until ultimately the wall comes down and a breed of person the likes you never could of imagined crafted in your twisted image spills forth. This person begins to consume your empire, everything you built, everyone you love, everything, because it has been bred to be greed without end. Eventually everything is consumed, the empire crumbles, the abominations starve, and new life springs up from the ruins. It's not a fun time for anyone on that ride.
