Does anyone else find nirvana based religions/beliefs demoralising?

Oh, this is in my inbox.

Seriously, try actual meditation, it will help w/ those obsessive tendencies - might not get rid of them, but you'll at least see them for what they are if you stick with it. No you haven't tried it before if for some reason you thought it was about 'concentrating' on something when that couldn't be further from what it is.

BTW, vis-a-vis the illusory self and all that, have you never payed attention to the most important things your beloved pop entertainment and corporate toys try to tell you in some watered-down form? Why do you think a Jedi - be it Luke, Obi-Wan, or Yoda - disappears and becomes ONE with the Force when he dies? And who sees the Force differently and thinks it's all about yourself and what you want - oh yeah, the Sith and those who follow the so-called dark side. The Force and the Jedi and that whole element in the Star Wars universe is greatly informed by Taoism - which is a philosophy of non-duality. How did you miss all that when it was right in front of you?
