There's nothing wrong being on the dole. Welfare is a safety net that should be used to help you get back on your feet. However there is a very very small percentage of people who would rather live on the dole as opposed to doing minimum wage part-time work. When people who are over 26 can get over €190 a week to do nothing, there's no incentive for them to apply for jobs. I had a friend who would rather stay on the dole then get up to commute to the city centre for work because what's the point in working if you only make slightly more then on the dole. In the UK, you only get up to £73.10 if you're over 25 on Job Seeker's Allowance. My post is merely mocking the welfare state.
