Donald Trump 'to sign orders restricting refugee access and immigration from Muslim countries'

You definitely have some good points, but I think I can help to provide some perspective.

Firstly, the government doesn't have any kind of responsibility for any country but ours. And currently, those places are hotbeds of terrorism and antiamerican sentiment. With that said, I'd also like to point out that uprooting and coming to America, or any other country for that matter, is hardly the best, safest, or most realistic solution to their problems. Which leads me to my next point. I believe many private organizations and charities possess the desire and capacity to affect these issues, but often lack the support. We should be supporting efforts that seek to address the root causes of these issues, which are generally stemming from a lack of education and infrastructure. The more schools, roads, and hospitals are built, the better off they'll all be. Similarly, the environment is not, nor should be, solely protected by the government, and private organizations and charities have a profound potential to impact the environment positively. Framing climate protection in the context of global warming or climate change is the reason the measures fail. People are skeptical and untrusting and can't see past the short term benefits of discarding the safeguards, whereas if you pose it in the context of conservation and protection for the sake of natural beauty and common health and wellbeing(BP oil spill, amazon deforestation, mountaintop removal are good examples to use), people are more likely to receive it positively. Frankly, it all comes off as hippy bullshit because people can't hold civil discourse on it, based on facts, evidence, and solid research. It just looks like propoganda and clickbait from potsmoking college kids. People are dense and quick to be in denial. It will take time. But the current generation is obviously much more aware of these issues and in the future will have much more capacity to affect them.

As for the opposing perspective on health insurance, its simply that it set what was already a huge mess on fire for a lot of people. It was far from "affordable" and some would say the government has no business passing laws like that. Personally(and I'm no expert on this at all) but I think emergency rooms and ambulances should be like police and firefighters and schools, in the sense that they're funded and operated by the govt through taxes without extra cost or fees. Maybe even as far as the whole hosptial. But that's ignoring the logistics and any kind of question of declared or implied constitutional govt powers, but if we can run schools everywhere, not sure why we shouldn't be able to run hospitals everywhere. I don't know though, I'm not well versed on that subject; I just know the ACA was a wreck from the start(the website, the lie about keeping your doctor, the massive rates, etc) and put a lot of people in a bad position. That's just one side of it though, as with the rest. You know that yin yang symbol? Everything is like that. Good and bad, but its all about finding the right balance. I hope that all helps. They're not assholes, you're not assholes. It just feels that way until you see things from new perspectives.
