Doug Ford's COVID record

I don't want to be seen as carrying water for Doug Ford or his administration, but I do feel like we attribute a little too much blame to him and his team. Understand I did not vote for Doug Ford, I did not think he'd be a good premiere when he came to office (mostly because of his brother), but I will say that all things considered I do not think the Ontario government has done a horrible job on the Covid response. Yes there have been mistakes but some of the points in this photo are proposterous

4,000 Long Term Care deaths ... I don't know how many there would have been under any other administration. This was a disease that targetted the old and we were not prepared.

Unnavigable vaccine rollout ... we're the single highest first dosed nation in the world per capita. WERE BEATING ISRAEL now. That is a fantastic stat.

Closing playgrounds etc... this has been my biggest beef with the government, they have been really stupid with their selections on whats open and whats closed. Worse has been the poor communication and last minute changes.

February re-opening after 2nd wave ... this was the governments biggest mistake, BUT WE were the ones pushing for re-opening and we got our just desserts.

I think it's easy for us to focus our displeasure with the current global moment at government officials, and they certainly should take blame for bad decisions made on their part but remember they are just humans who are as confused as many of us in a novel situation. I don't wish to absolve them of their mistakes, but I don't believe its productive to make villains of our politicians. Honestly the thing I've respected about Doug the most has been his COVID hair, it says it all; "I am in this with you". Ford hasn't been caught on vacations like other politicians, he actually seems to want to get through this and the pressure is getting to him.
