DougCo considers taking Daniels Park from Denver over gun law

Unfortunately I think compromise on this issue has become essentially impossible because the NRA and Republican party have worked very hard to turn the ownership of a tool into a core aspect of people's identity. As a result, a huge portion of the population will never rationally debate restrictions because they take any attempt to regulate guns as an attack on their basic sense of self. As a gun owner who considers my guns to be useful tools and nothing more, it's always incredibly unsettling to be around people at a range who clearly structure their entire sense of being and self-worth around guns - you just can't engage. As an aside, the fear and paranoia that it breeds has also had a negative effect on the development of gun technology that could improve gun safety. It's insane that in 2020 I can't readily buy smart guns, but the few times I've tried to discuss gun tech with people, the immediate response is "it's all a giant conspiracy for big government to take my weapons." Crazy stuff.
