You are being unfair to God. It is not God how takes offense. Nor does God spite anyone for insulting God. Nor does God go to court when God is slighted. You just insulted God. God hasn't done anything to you. It's people who feel offended on behalf of God and try to punish those who insult God and religion. And consider this for a second, those people who feel offended aren't feeling offense purely for religious reason. People are being manipulated. Here's how:

Think of all the instances of insult to God you have heard in recent memory. They all come from countries that have autocratic rule. Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc. These countries have deeply religious people. And citizens of these nations don't really like their rulers who serve their own interest and interest of Western nations. These leaders use these instances of hurting religious sensibility to show how tough they are and how they defend Islam. It's like Western politicians (particularly in USA) who bicker on about how much religious they are compared to their fellow candidates and how they are tough on crime. They pass stupid shitty laws like minimum sentencing about small quantities of drug possession. They aren't doing this to sold addiction or drug problem. They are doing this to show how tough they are on crime and gain sympathy and legitimacy among the people who they are ruling. It's same in Muslim countries. The leaders take any slighting of Islam and do things to appear like defender of Islam. The Saudi king calls himself the Custodian of Holy Mosques for crying out loud. That's not a religious title. None to be found in canons of Islam. Yet, he chose his title to legitimize his rule over Saudi nationals.

Don't blame God or religion. God doesn't direct act on the physical world when God insulted. Religion is an idea. It doesn't do anything. It people and people who are manipulated who do shitty things. You've heard many times that don't hate the person but hate the idea. In reality, it should be hate the persons who are acting and don't hate the idea. Ideas didn't do shit to nobody.
