English as second language speakers - stop apologizing for your English!

Same. I was obsessed with languages as a teen and wanted to learn as many as I could. That's why I ended up speaking a couple of languages to varying degrees. The few times that comes up, people are always pretty amazed. Once had a Swedish guy ask me: "Why would you learn the language of my small country?!" Because it's cool, that's why. And Sweden isn't small! Most people love it if you speak even a word of their language.

In spite of all of that, I've found myself apologizing for all kinds of mistakes I make all the time. Even to penpals who know my language skills in and out because we've exchanged lengthy emails over several years. And I don't know why. Not sure if the accent thing plays into it.
