This sucks. I hope she can change as this is so frustrating. So, here is the story of my previously entitled cousin (F 33) to give you hope. People, specially our eldest aunt, spoiled her her whole life as her dad left when she was a toddler. She always got anything she asked for! Then, when she was 18, she decided to be a photographer. Don’t get me wrong, she asked for the best camera out there at the time, and got it. What she also got was an entry level job at the local newspaper (basically photographing cadavers and crime scenes) and was accepted at Uni for Journalism (this is Brasil, mind you, so degrees work a but different. You sign up for a bachelor degree from the get go). She worked real hard and finished Uni with a job in a big media outlet as she did real well. She still gets loads, but she ain’t the one asking. Even I (F42) who used to be a wee bit jealous of her having the best clothes and toys acknowledge she became an amazing woman. She is giving back the ‘gifts’ she got as a child in the shape of love and attention to the family members. That’s more than obvious during lockdown when she is the one initiating contact of us nephews and nieces to cheer the ‘oldies’ up.
