Have you ever had a gut feeling that you were meant to be with someone? Like that’s who you’ll end up with. What happened?

Funny you should ask this tonight. Isolation makes your brain go over some old stuff I guess.

I was thinking of my ex. Wondering how she is doing in the current lockdown in London and wether I should send a message. But it's not my place anymore as I have been told she is seeing someone new and seems happy. So I hope he's looking after her.

Rewind three years ago and if you asked me your question, I would have responded "yes" without a second thought. She was the one for me and I honestly felt I was meant to be with her.

But time has a funny way of changing things. Either people get older or you do, your interests change, your opinions change or you grow apart. Or there are things there that you never acknowledged or ignored for the sake of convenience.

We split after 8 years together and from what I can tell, and from what I've been told, she's no longer the person I knew.

We have both moved on and I'm seeing someone now who I care for deeply. But if I'm honest it doesn't have that same "I'm meant to be with you" feeling. At least not yet.

I've never had it before or since then. I've met people, fallen in love but I was never as sure as I was in that 8 year relationship.

Sometimes it just doesn't work out no matter how you feel.
